We work in quiet, direct partnership with remote communities to support essential infrastructure such as vital boreholes—ensure food security during periods of severe drought, and meticulously preserve both the material and immaterial heritage of the region's indigenous groups.
Looking toward the future of responsible travel, we are presenting a foundational eco-lodge proposal to the local authorities and tribal leaders of Oncocua. Designed to facilitate deeply respectful cultural tourism, this project is inextricably linked to the development of two new waterhole projects, which will directly benefit the local Tua and Cuis communities who navigate and rely upon this arid terrain.
In the village of Kamuviu, we engaged with local builders to meticulously restore two traditional Plain Muila huts, preserving indigenous architectural techniques. Concurrently, we established a cooperative effort with four Plain Muila women and one man to revive the crafting of traditional fertility dolls and carved wooden headrests. This initiative fosters cultural pride while providing a sustainable economic avenue through thoughtful exchange with our visiting travelers.
The intangible heritage of Angola is as vulnerable as its physical landscapes. In an effort to document a fading oral history, we recorded the last known traditional songs sung in the Cuepe language. This archival video ensures that younger generations of the Cuepe people retain a permanent, accessible link to their ancestral linguistics and cultural memory.
Recognizing the severe ecological pressures placed upon the San community of Chomipapa, our Lubango-based team facilitated the delivery of rice and grain reserves to offset immediate scarcity. To support their long-term agricultural adaptation, we also provided a plow to aid in the cultivation of their local crops.
